Design House 2016
Design House is an event where several studios from across the country participate in creating a unique interior design project which showcases their vision and legacy. These projects, as well as all the rest of the spaces designed by different design studios, are part of the rooms we normally find in a house and converge with the projects of many other design studios from Mexico. This event lasts for a couple of weeks and is visited by thousands of people as a temporary exhibition that is open during Design Week.
While I was Head of GAIA Projects in 2016, together with Marion Cortina, who was the Creative Director at GAIA, we collaborated to design a SPA Lounge area for the 2016 edition of the event.
In the back of the main house in Polanco, a premium neighborhood in Mexico City, we designed a mystical space that invited guests to visit the deep corners of the property and was transformed into a relaxation area. Faithful to the concept of GAIA Projects, we developed a space that communicated sophistication, originality, and functionality. The goal of the creation of the space was to represent that relaxation and comfort are not at odds with innovation and comfort design. Also, affordable and well-designed elements were the core of the design proposal to reflect GAIA’s brand ideology and product design.
The space was designed with a neutral palette, soft textures, local materials, and a wellness aesthetic above all.
